The Descent

I landed on what appeared to be the “other side” of the portaScan0013l. “Where on earth am I?” I asked the girl in a trembling voice. The atmosphere was incredibly dank.

“Funny you should say that, mortal. Take a good look, this is hardly that rock you call Earth.” growled the State Farm Employee in a demonic voice. “Your own neglectance of clear instructions has led to your own demise. I will escort you to the courtroom.” I gulped and held on tight to the telephone set and followed her, or risk losing myself forever in the thick mist. As I walked, I noticed that the surface of the ground had gruesome images of all the horrendous moments in humanity’s history. “You like it?” she asked.

“They all knew what was coming, but decided to proceed anyways, disregarding all warnings. Consider yourself lucky to have the system overheat over several childish commodities.”

We walked for nearly an hour, and I’ve already gotten bored with the dull surroundings. I cheekily pulled up the telephone and dialed the number. “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there, with a giant bubble wand.”, I whispered into the mouthpiece, and the girl spontaneously turned around with the item in her hand and an extremely agitated facial expression.

“My, you are persistent. Imminent doom is nearly upon you, yet you still try to make the most of the situation…” she muttered. “If it makes you feel any better, take it, you imbecile.” I grab the wand and started to blow bubbles. Lost in my small world, I didn’t notice the ten foot tall double doors that suddenly materialized in front of us, and I slammed right into it.

The doors opened, and from inside, came a thunderous roar of a large crowd. I was welcomed inside coldly and paraded onto a stage. The doors then closed. An ancient man stepped upon a small podium facing me started speaking. “Well, well, well, what do we have here? Another earthing who purchased our policy and neglected the instructions? Let’s see here. Nothing out of the ordinary, I’m not sure why you’re brought here.”

“So I’m allowed to leave?” I asked, expecting a yes.
“No. You are to reside in this realm for…um, let’s see, approximately a month on the charges of insufficient caretaking of the telephone. You will still be allowed usage of it, but under extreme examination. Case closed.” He said, and left the room.

“So what now…” I asked the girl.
